After 22 fulfilling and awesome years at Iress, including nearly 13 as CEO, my decision to step down as CEO has been one of the most difficult in my life. However, I am confident this is the right time for me and for Iress. I have put everything I have into our company over the past quarter of a century, and it’s time for me to now take some time out and focus on other aspects of my life.

There’s never a good time to step down as a leader. The reason I am making this decision now is because I want to ensure Iress is in the best possible position, with the best possible leadership, to continue on the bold path we have set out around our 2025 goals. Our strategy is clear, we are making great progress, and I am confident that the new CEO of Iress, Marcus Price, will bring the right expertise, perspective and energy to keep driving us forward, and to ensure we deliver on our goals and achieve our potential.

This has always been far more than a job for me — it has been my life. I was part of the original team that created Xplan with the vision of making financial advice simpler, more efficient and more accessible. In 2003, we were delighted to join with another group of smart, forward-thinking people at Iress with whom we shared the same values and vision for what software can do in financial services.

In 2009, it was my great honour to succeed Peter Dunai as Iress’ second CEO. I’ve been so proud of what we’ve achieved as a team at Iress, but more than that, it’s been my absolute pleasure to work alongside all of my colleagues and with our clients to see software make a difference. I’ve always said Iress employs smart people. Great people. Awesome people. There’s a reason people join us and stay for the long run, or in some cases return to Iress; there’s something genuinely special at Iress of which I am super proud.

I have no immediate plans. I am not going to another role, nor have I looked. I want to give myself time to consider what life may offer, which may include private investments, interesting projects and start ups, travel..

I will be staying on until the end of January 2023 to ensure Marcus has a smooth transition into our Iress. In the meantime, it’s business as usual for us.
